Rodeo season in Central Texas is more than just an event—it’s a tradition, a celebration, and a homecoming all wrapped in one. This year’s Hico Old Settlers Reunion & Rodeo reminded us just how deeply rooted the rodeo lifestyle is in our community. With slack nights under the stars, bronco bustin’ action, barrel racing, and hometown pride bursting at the seams, it was the kind of event that makes you proud to call this region home.

If you missed the excitement in Hico this year, don’t worry—there’s another boot-stompin’ good time just around the corner: the 56th Annual Stephenville Rodeo is fast approaching, and it’s shaping up to be a must-see summer highlight.

Scroll down to see the Full Schedule below at the bottom of the page.

Rodeo Roots That Run Deep

Stephenville, Texas, isn’t just any town—it’s the Cowboy Capital of the World, and when the rodeo rolls into town, you can feel the energy shift. This event isn’t just a show, it’s a multi-generational celebration of cowboy culture. Families return year after year, some with memories going back decades, others with little ones just getting their first taste of the arena dirt.

From seasoned ropers to wide-eyed toddlers watching from the bleachers, there’s something here for everyone. Events like mutton bustin’ give the youngest cowboys and cowgirls (80 lbs and under) a chance to ride like the big kids, and it’s always a crowd favorite.

What to Expect at This Year’s Rodeo

The Stephenville Rodeo lineup includes:

  • Mutton Bustin’ – An unforgettable moment for kids and parents alike

  • Country Team Roping – Precision, partnership, and cowboy grit

  • Rodeo Queen Contest – Celebrating poise, horsemanship, and community pride

  • Live Music – Dance under the Texas stars with local and regional performers

  • Bronc and Bull Riding – Heart-pounding action from top riders

  • Fashion Show – Western flair takes the spotlight

  • Vendors, Food, and Family Fun – From funnel cakes to cowboy hats, it’s all here

Tickets are just $12 in advance or $15 at the door, and kids 5 and under get in free—making this one of the most affordable and family-friendly events around.
