Huffin’ for the Stuffin’: Stephenville’s Thanksgiving Tradition Returns for 2025

November 15, 2025 by chorton Leave a Comment

Run, Pray, and Give Thanks: Turkey Trot and Community Events in Stephenville

Thanksgiving in Stephenville isn’t just about turkey and football—it’s about neighbors, family, and community spirit. As the Cross Timbers trees turn gold and the air gets crisp, locals lace up their running shoes for the Brinkley Family’s “Huffin’ for the Stuffin’ Turkey Trot” and gather across town to give thanks together.

A Tradition That Runs Deep

Each Thanksgiving morning, the streets of Stephenville fill with runners, joggers, and strollers for the beloved Turkey Trot, presented by the Stephenville Running Club. This lighthearted 5K and 1-mile fun run welcomes participants of all ages; families with strollers, competitive sprinters, and even folks in festive turkey costumes.

Proceeds from the event go right back into the community, supporting local charities and youth programs. Online registration is open through RunSignUp, and early registrants can snag the signature Huffin’ for the Stuffin’ T-shirt before race day.

Faith and Fellowship: Community Thanksgiving Service

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, local congregations will join in unity for the Stephenville Community Thanksgiving Service, an evening of prayer and gratitude hosted by area churches. It’s a reminder that while turkey may bring us to the table, thankfulness is what keeps us there.

Breaking Bread Together

For those who’d like to share a warm meal and friendship, the Thanksgiving Community Dinner at the Elks Lodge offers free plates and open hearts. Volunteers, local businesses, and organizations across Erath County come together to make sure everyone in Stephenville has a place at the table this holiday season.

A Morning Mass of Gratitude

At 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2025, St. Brendan Catholic Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Mass, inviting residents to begin the day grounded in reflection and gratitude before gathering with family.
